Roller Hockey Skates Must Read Information

Has your son decided that he would like to get involved in the sport of roller hockey?  If he has then there certain pieces of equipment that you will need to purchase for him.  Along with of course the stick you will also need to purchase  a good pair of roller hockey skates.

Although they are often referred to inline hockey skates as well they do differ quite a lot from the more conventional type of inline skates you can buy today.  Plus you will also find because of what they are they may cost considerably more generally look at spending upwards of $100 on a pair of these for your child.

When it comes to roller hockey skates which can be used in parks or rinks they look very similar to the skates used when playing ice hockey.  Again they come with a leather upper and padding to protect the whole foot especially around the ankles.  Plus to do them up they have laces along with velcro strap that goes around the ankle part of the boot.  Of course they also have wheels on them rather than blades, which is why they look very much like conventional inline skates.

But when it comes to skates for playing roller hockey in you will find that the actual frame of them is much shorter.  This is to ensure that they allow you to maneuvre around in them more easily.  Plus as mentioned above they have a great deal of padding in them to provide ample protection against the feet being injured from the pucks or sticks hitting them.

Another feature you will notice on these types of roller skates over the other kinds you can purchase today is that the wheels are a lot smaller.  The main reason for them being fitted with these size wheels is that it makes it much easier to turn on them.  But if you are looking for the skates that can provide you with a great deal more control when wearing them, remember these don’t come with brakes go for the styles where the wheels at the back are slightly larger.

Finally when it comes to buying roller hockey skates for your child it is important that they try a number of different pairs out beforehand.  This way they can determine which ones they feel most comfortable in and which offer them the greatest control over what they are doing when skating.
